In order to avoid the overall 'flat' colour which often results, I suggest picking out a few strands of hair at random and wrapping them in aluminium foil. Then apply the toner to the middle lengths and ends for approximately ten minutes before applying to the roots for a further fifteen minutes, depending on the porosity of the hair. Unwrap the foil and apply the toner to the strands to achieve colour variation. Leave for approximately another five minutes. Rinse thoroughly and shampoo in the normal way.
