I am convinced that this will lead to the genesis of an entirely new sub-branch of economics which would be best called algorithmic economics, on the same footing as Simon's behavioral economics, Scarf's computable general equilibrium, and Vernon Smith's experimental economics.
I suspect that what I have called computable economics will, eventually, turn out to have a large intersection with Binmore's algorithmic economics without, however, being a proper subset of it. At this time, the results and conceptual developments in algorithmic economics, singlehandedly created and nurtured by Binmore, seem to be confined to game-theoretic issues; but a close reading of what I consider to be the two classics of algorithmic economics (Binmore 1987, 1988), should convince any reader that the methodological and epistemological agendas have wider scope and deeper aims.
