Longer delay times below fish pass entrances for early season fish have, for example, been observed by Gowans et a!. ( 1999a) and Laine eta!. (2002). Similar correlation could not be found in the present study, probably because of the relatively small sample size and relatively short time between tagging dates. The main River Petcha flow is diverted through the waterfall located on the opposite side of the river channel thus attracting ascending fish away from the fish pass entrance. Increasing the water flow through the pass or locating the entrance closer to the waterfall could enhance its attraction capabilities and functionality.
